Parks and Greenways
On the grounds of the L & N Depot is Veterans Memorial Park. This city park is the site for most of the outdoor activities throughout the year including arts and craft festivals, car shows, musical performances, and a spectacular Fourth of July Celebration. Also included in this park is a walking trail and picnic pavilion.

L & N Depot Museum
Preserving the area’s history and cultural heritage is the L & N Depot Museum. Built in 1906 and restored in the 1980’s, this building houses exhibits of railroad memorabilia, local school histories, and changing exhibits.
The Depot’s elegant Portico Room is often used for weddings, receptions, and social events. A large conference room is also available for public meetings.
Built in 1927 as a movie house, the historic Gem Theater has been renovated and adapted for contemporary performing arts and entertainment events. Home to the Gem Theater Players and their musical and play productions, the Gem host numerous annual events including the Cousin Jake Festival, Winter Bluegrass Series, and many other musical events.
Owned by the City of Etowah, the Gem Theater also serves as a community-gathering place for social events and town meetings.
The City of Etowah is served by a number of civic, fraternal, social, and professional organizations. The groups include, but are not limited to: Civitans, Rotary, and Lions Clubs, Garden and Music Clubs, Zeta Kappa and Xi Delta Zeta sororities.
