In accordance with the belief that education is the foundation of America’s growth, Etowah and McMinn County offer excellent public education facilities. The public system provides bountiful opportunities for extra-curricular involvement in athletics and arts programs. With the initiation of the Tennessee Scholars programs, scholastic achievement is stressed in the public system. With ten colleges and universities within a 60-mile radius, the Etowah area provides a highly educated workforce for student success and industry needs.
Etowah City School
Etowah City School is a one-school system providing kindergarten through eighth grade education. With the enrollment of approximately 400 students, this school provides a good student to teacher ratio for personalized attention.
McMinn County School
Mountain View Elementary School has an enrollment of more than 700 students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
McMinn Central High School has an enrollment of more than 700 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The high school also offers a vocational school.
The Tennessee Technology Center in nearby Athens, provides valued skills training in several job fields. Both evening and day classes are offered on a quarter system. The courses of study taught by the 20 full-time faculty members include auto body and mechanics, drafting, electronics, machine shop, practical nursing, business systems technology, and welding. State Industrial Training Service is available to all expanding or new companies creating more than 25 new jobs.
The Etowah area has 4 colleges within a 30 mile radius and 10 colleges within a 60-mile radius including Tennessee Wesleyan College in nearby Athens and Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee.
